This programme has been developed by SOAS' Access and Student Success Team to celebrate Black History Month by intellectually engaging undergraduate students in critical analysis of a range of artifact screated by contemporary and historical visual, performing and written Black artists.

More specifically, this programme aims to:

  • Equip attendees to engage critically with art through facilitated activities
  • Provide a safe and creative space where attendees can practice academic writting, meet other students and develop skills
  • Inspire independent engagement with all arts and culture after the programme and more specifically with art prtoduced by artists of African descent.
  • Develop attendees’ confidence and resilience to foster a sense of belonging in creative spaces
